A growing real estate and construction organization is seeking a Director of Finance - Construction to lead financial operations across a portfolio of ground‑up and redevelopment projects. What You'll Lead
In this role, you'll guide the financial engine behind multiple construction projects to ensure accuracy, disciplined processes, and smooth cross-functional alignment. You will oversee everything from project financials and cash flow management to forecasting, budget performance, and job cost integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial performance throughout the entire construction lifecycle, ensuring projects stay on track with budget, timelines, and scope.
- Manage detailed job cost reporting, work‑in‑progress schedules, committed cost accuracy, and project forecasts.
- Prepare and manage construction draw requests, collaborating closely with lending partners to ensure timely funding.
- Partner with development, accounting, finance, and asset management teams to maintain strong reporting visibility across the business.
- Produce profitability reporting for for‑sale projects and other strategic financial deliverables.
- Monitor monthly performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
- Oversee cash management for the construction division and ensure adherence to internal controls and audit standards.
- Support vendor onboarding, contract compliance, insurance verification, and payment processes.
- Manage tax-related filings and customer invoicing tied to construction projects.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 5+ years of finance or accounting experience, ideally within construction or real estate development.
- Experience with project‑based financial systems such as Procore or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite or comparable) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume data with precision and clarity.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, with comfort collaborating across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and standard audit practices.
