- Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, Creative Content
Description
The University of West Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, Creative Content. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. The selected candidate will be responsible for the operation of all facets of digital media for the Athletic Department’s 16 varsity athletic programs.
- Coordinate and organize all department creative needs, producing high-quality content by assigned deadlines.
- Design and produce West Alabama Athletics creative elements, including but not limited to: graphics, social media content, billboards, posters, game programs, brochures, in-game slides, digital marketing, motion graphics, and facility branding.
- Contribute to the production of materials for the recruitment of potential student-athletes.
- Assist with digital initiatives, including content production and design of the official website, social media initiatives, and video production and videoboard productions, including animations/motion graphics.
- Manage the day-to-day creative content for assigned official department social media accounts.
- Assist with producing broadcasts for all home events on FloSports and YouTube, following guidelines established by the Gulf South Conference. This includes, but is not limited to, regular-season and postseason competition established by the GSC or NCAA.
- Produce features on student-athletes and coaches.
- Help compile game highlights and build video archives of key players through original footage at games.
- Assist with the management of department photographers, including freelancers and student staff.
- Produce social content and content for special events to spread brand awareness of UWA Athletics.
- Travel with teams as necessary to provide video coverage of select events, including regular-season and postseason contests.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, broadcasting, journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- At least one year in a video production or related landscape.
- Proficient experience utilizing the full Adobe Creative Suite; specifically, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere, and After Effects.
- Experience with social media platforms.
- Experience in graphic design.
- Knowledge of current social and digital media trends and specifications.
- Ability to interpret and utilize brand standards.
- Interpersonal verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and driven.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends, as needed.
- Ability and willingness to attend campus events.
- Some travel may be required.
Desired:
- Master’s Degree or other advanced education.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
